Statue of Liberty

It’s awesome to glide past Lady Liberty on your boat! This world-famous symbol is an accessible and unforgettable attraction for area boaters.

When the water and weather are calm, you can make this round trip on many vessels from most Long Island harbors. From the south, pass Brooklyn, go under the Verrazano Bridge to the southern tip of Manhattan, and be awed as the Statue of Liberty comes into view. From the north, pass under both the Throgs Neck and Whitestone Bridges, travel down the East River, and head around the southern tip of Manhattan until you see Lady Liberty rising up.

There is maximum emphasis on security and safety in the area. Maintain a safe distance, heed U.S. Coast Guard and harbor police regulations, restrictions, and warnings. Stay clear of cruise ships, tourist boats, ferries, and tugboats. Consult your chart and be attentive to the current.

If you’re visiting the statue from one of Long Island’s eastern harbors, or want to take in other sights, stay overnight at a local marina. Transient space may be available at North Cove Marina 917-677-7680), New York Chelsea Piers Marina (212-336-6600), and Liberty Landing Marina in Jersey City (201-985-8000). Always call first for availability.
