Freeport

Though less than five square miles, Freeport’s presence as a destination for boaters is immense. This village by the water has a decidedly sea scent and sights to match — ships’ wheels, fishing nets, palm trees, and boats everywhere you look.

Woodcleft Avenue is a one-mile strip known far and wide as “The Nautical Mile.” You’ll find lots of open-air bars with crowds of people having a good time along with many restaurants offering palate-pleasing cuisines.

Take a stroll as you enjoy ices or ice cream and then check out the shops along the mile. For the boating family that also loves golf, be sure to play the 18-hole pirate-themed mini golf course at Crow’s Nest Cove.

When it comes to enjoying some time in parks, Randall and Cow Meadow Parks are close by (Cow Meadow is restricted to Nassau County residents). Have a relaxing picnic or bring a ball or a flying disc.

While many boaters gravitate towards Woodcleft Canal and the Hudson Channel, also check out Freeport Creek, just east of Hudson Channel.
