Coves

Coves are enjoyable spots to relax, raft up, swim, and appreciate nature. Check out our suggestions (as well as your charts).

Cedar Island Cove in the southeast part of Coecles Harbor is lined by New York State’s Cedar Island Park and Suffolk County’s Cedar Point Parks. Mashomack Preserve is across, but motorized vessels are prohibited there.

Smith Cove is a protected spot off Shelter Island for paddlecraft.

Hemlock Cove, the third cove east of Tobay Beach, is accessible through the New York State Boat Channel.

Garbage Cove may not sound appealing, but if Hemlock Cove is filled, head west along the State Boat Channel to this cove.

Pirates Cove is located on the eastern part of Port Jefferson’s entrance.
