Charles Dickens Festival
Port Jefferson transforms itself from a bustling harborside village into a Victorian wonderland at its 26th Annual Charles Dickens Festival.
On Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4, scenes reminiscent of a Dickens novel abound. Carolers sing, Santa’s workshop bustles, carriage horses await, Tiny Tim has trains, trees will shimmer, and hearts will be merry and bright throughout.
Be on the lookout for magic, puppets, and authentic-looking Dickensian characters including Scrooge, Father Christmas, the Dickens mayor, the town crier, and chimney sweeps. A troupe of volunteer actors from the Greater plays the crowd-pleasing parts.
Many events will be free. Purchase food and other fare at the village’s plentiful eateries and shops.
