Port Jefferson Festival

The 7th Annual Dragon Boat Race Festival takes place Saturday, September 18, in Port Jefferson Harbor and in the village overlooking the water.

Local and regional dragon boat teams will race against each other in a series of heats. Want to enter a team? The organizers say, “Novice teams are provided with instruction and all of the necessary equipment to race.” Further information available at the link below.

Musical and other entertainments will take place by the Village Center on East Broadway. Food trucks will park nearby, or you may stroll through this walkable village to enjoy its regular delicious fare.

The event will begin at 8:30 am and conclude about 5:30 pm. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the competition and festivities.

Port Jefferson is an exciting village to visit by boat to see the races or any other time. Watch your approach to the harbor from the Long Island Sound — large ferries head between Port Jefferson and Bridgeport, Connecticut all day (slow down, too, as it’s a no wake zone all the way). Transients are welcome at Port Jefferson Yacht Club (631-473-9890), Danfords Hotel and Marina (800-332-6367), Port Jefferson Launch & Water Taxi (631-796-4462), and the Port Jefferson Marina (631-331-3567). Always call in advance for availability.
