Home Anchorage, Cove, East end, Fun Coecles Harbor

Coecles Harbor

Located on the east end of Shelter Island, due south of Ram Island, is one of the most protected spots in the area to drop anchor. The completely undeveloped shoreline surrounding the cove is the Mashomack Nature Preserve, operated by the Nature Conservancy (631-749-1001).

There’s no rowing, bicycling, jet skiing, or pets allowed near the Preserve, but boaters may have the opportunity to glimpse — from afar — many of the species  that make their home in the marshes, ponds and creeks, including harbor seals, terrapins muskrats, and hummingbirds.

There are no facilities here, but Coecles Harbor Marina is a short trip further in the harbor should you need fuel or other services.
