On September 21 and 22, Greenport celebrates its nautical history as sea lovers, fun seekers, foodies, shoppers, pirates, and history buffs gather for the annual Greenport Maritime Festival. Hosted by the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation as a fundraiser, festival weekend highlights include music, classic wooden boat displays, water sport demonstrations, kayak races, model shipbuilding, parade, and other family-friendly activities. Events take place at Mitchell Park, the marina, and locations throughout Greenport. Admission is free for the festival, but fees apply to some activities and the purchase of tasty food, craft beers, and local wines. Dogs are welcome in many locales — there’s even a rest area in Mitchell Park for pooches and people to relax.
