Despite the plot of the song and movie, Santa doesn’t always need a fleet of reindeer to shuttle him around. Sometimes, Santa flies on an airplane! (A historic plane, to be exact.)

When Santa arrives at the Fire Island Lighthouse on December 11 at 11:30 am, children will cheer as they watch the recreation of a long-ago holiday treat — the 1953 delivery of holiday packages to lighthouse families.

After the reenactment of the “Flying Santa,” Santa descends from the top of the lighthouse to meet and greet all the spellbound children.
