Port Jefferson Maritime and Sea Shanty Music Festival

The Greater Port Jefferson – Northern Brookhaven Arts Council and the Folk Music Society of New York are committed to preserving the centuries-old tradition of maritime songs. These include sea shanties, commonly sung on large merchant sailing ships to accompany repetitive labor.

On Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11, visit scenic and accessible Port Jefferson by boat and enjoy a free concert of songs at noon in Harborfront Park. Festival performers include talented musicians from Long Island, New England, and the UK. Enjoy songs you’ve heard and ones new to you, all presented in an ideal setting by the harbor.
