Jones Beach Air Show

Boating season (unofficially) takes off once the skies roar to life at the Jones Beach Air Show. Beachgoers and boaters will enjoy crowd-pleasing aeronautical feats on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26.

The 20th anniversary shows run from 10:00 am through 3:00 pm each day. Scheduled US military airborne excitement includes the Navy Blue Angels, A-10C Thunderbolt II Demo Team, US Navy F-35C Demo Team, and the Army Golden Knights. Civilian performers include American Airpower Museum Warbirds, Farmingdale State College Flying Rams, Mike Goulian, Ed Hamill, and David Windmiller.

Watching the show from your boat is a unique experience. Check the chart and the weather forecast and arrive early — viewing locations fill up quickly. (Insider tip: there’s a rehearsal show Friday.) Best spots are in Short Beach and Zach’s Bay. Short Beach is on the western tip of Jones Beach, just east of the inlet in Sloop Channel (near the U.S. Coast Guard station) and Zach’s Bay is on the northern side of Jones Beach State Park, accessible from Sloop Channel, just west of the State Boat Channel.

Pack earplugs and whatever you need, as there are no accessible facilities.
