Families have flocked to this fun destination along the Long Island Sound in Westchester for close to a century. Known also as “Rye Playland,” this amusement park is even more entertaining when you visit it by boat.
No matter the ages of those aboard, Playland Amusement Park has boatloads of age-appropriate activities. The youngest set can enjoy slimy, crazy, and old-fashioned rides, while the young at heart will get a kick out of the bumper cars, carousel, and gondola. Test out your ticker encountering the living dead at the zombie castle, on the sky skater’s giant sliding skateboard, and otherwise plummeting, plunging, fluming, whipping, and spinning.
Playland has a pool, beach, seaside boardwalk, miniature golf, and indoor ice rinks. Visitors enjoy daily entertainment and fireworks at 9:20 pm on Fridays July 12 through August 30.
Moorings are available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Pier Restaurant and Tiki Bar at the water’s edge of the park. The launch service monitors VHF channel 77. A floating dock is also available for drop off and pick up — call 914-967-1020 for information.
In addition to dining at the Pier Restaurant, there are plenty of snacking and quick meal options in the park.
